How Ranklist compiles its rankings
Ranklist aggregates published rankings. It does not produce original measurements. This page states exactly what that means, so you can judge how much weight to give any list here.
Where the data comes from
Every ranking names two to four public sources at the bottom of its page, with links. Those are the sources the list was built from. We do not generate figures ourselves. When a number appears here, it was published somewhere else first, and that place is named.
How items are ordered
Each ranking states its sorting rule at the top of the page, under Ranking Criteria. Most lists sort by a single objective measure in descending order, for example worldwide box office gross, market capitalisation, or citation count. Where a list mixes measures, the criteria line says so.
How often it updates
Most rankings are snapshots. The collection date is printed on every page and in this build it is 2026-09-22. One ranking, cryptocurrencies, pulls live market data every four hours. We do not claim daily updates for lists that do not receive them.
What this method cannot do
A snapshot is not live data, and a list can fall out of date between collections. Public sources sometimes disagree with each other, and we follow one rather than averaging them. Some entries have no official website because we could not verify one. Item descriptions in languages other than Chinese and English are machine translated from the Chinese originals and may read awkwardly, though the underlying figures are the same.
Corrections
If a figure, a name, or an ordering looks wrong, write to contact@ranklist.cc. Point at the ranking and the entry. We will check it against the listed sources and correct it in the next build.
